In Atlanta, the average temperature was 85.6°F which was 6.7°F above normal. This made August of 2007 not only the hottest August on record, but also the hottest month on record. Atlanta reached or exceeded 100°F eight days in August which tied the record for the most number of days that 100°F was reached or exceeded in one summer. In Athens, the average temperature was 85.2°F which tied the record for the warmest month ever. Athens reached or exceeded 100°F on thirteen days.
